Guess what I am doing today? Nope! Guess again. No way! Okay, game over, I'll tell ya! I am making the best damn pound cake..ever! I have a friend that is having a birthday today and she loves this cake, and being the nice friend I am...She's gonna get it! I love finding recipes..easy ones. If yall want to share your favorite recipe...drop a comment!

1 cup butter, softened
1/2 cup shortening
3 cups sugar
5 eggs
3 and 1/4 cups sifted cake flour
1/2 teaspoon baking powder
1/2 teaspoon salt
1 cup milk
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
1 teaspoon lemon extract
1 teaspoon rum flavoring
1 teaspoon coconut flavoring
Glaze (recipe follows)

Cream butter and shortening;gradually add sugar, beating well at medium speed of an electric mixer (I recommend this one) Add eggs, one at a time, beating after each addition.

Combine flour, baking powder, and salt; add to creamed mixture alternately with milk, beginning and ending with flour mixture. Mix after each addition. Stir in flavorings. Pour batter into a greased and floured 10-inch tube pan. Bake at 325 for 1hour and 30 minutes or until a wooden pick inserted in center comes out clean. Cool cake in pan 10 minutes; remove from pan, and cool on wire rack.

Spoon hot glaze over warm cake. Cool completely.

1/2 cup sugar
1/3 cup water
1/2 teaspoon almond extract

Combine sugar and water in a small saucepan; bring to a boil. Remove from heat; add almond extract.

I'm a SAHM to 3 girls. We became foster parents in May 2006 in hopes of adoption. We love our girls and could never picture ourselves without them. Although life is much busier, we couldn't be any happier. Here's our story...
